After nearly six months, I've finally decided to update elan3 after realizing it had gone to absolute poo. It has been pretty embarassing, really, how I put all this time into building this thing with such a beautiful design and I let porn-peddling Viagra spammers clutter it up with garbage. I've missed blogging, moreso to share my thoughts and interests with those who share them with me than to make connections. I suppose you could say it keeps my life balanced (see also: pug yin yang pic below).
No more blogging atrophy for me. I'm reclaiming my Eden, inspired by PixelJunk's latest organic platformer, Eden. This game, despite it's frustrating learning curve due to the bizarre control scheme, has become incredibly addicting. I've already played through the demo from off of PSN twice, and am eagerly anticipating the full release of the game Thursday. That is, after several more playthroughs of the demo.
In Eden, you control a spore-like character collecting Spectra, which are glowing flowerlike symbols scattered throughout a densely floral environment. The object is to make your way vertically by swinging from plantlife around you and by pollenating other plants, making them grow closer to your objective. This is more difficult than it sounds, as there is a pacing element to it forcing you to work against the clock.
As you collect more Spectra, your Eden evolves and flourishes (Eden being synonymous with the title screen in this case), and enables you to reach other Gardens to collect more Spectra.
The vector-like visuals mixed with a numbing, ambient soundtrack really add to the experience, and outputting in full 1080p just makes it that much more stunning. If you have a PS3, this is one you won't want to miss, as it will likely only be ten bucks like other PixelJunk titles.
