elan3c has been my little side project for the past couple of months. it has been an experiment in the latest buzz of UI techniques. i've adopted similar methodologies and techniques from previous works on this site (my ajax rss feeds and chat), and presentation formats from google personalize and start.com.

being stubborn and entrepreneurial (sp?), i refused to use any of the existing open source ajax frameworks for php or .NET, so i created a brand new presentation layer. rewrite is probably an understatement.

the whole idea was great while i was in chicago and had plenty of time between class and the bars (it reminded me of college, and my early web days hacking away with basic php, mysql and a six-pack of brew), and i got most of it done, but it isn't quite bug-free, and is in need of some additional visual tweaks.

there's also the conservative side of me that says this presentation concept is too unconventional, and people will get confused or annoyed by my site within a matter of seconds and just leave. but then again, you have to take risks sometimes if you ever want to make something great.

i decided to comprimise; i'll link to it from here (its my unfinished painting), and let the concept speak for itself. this way, i can still keep my current site in production, and continue my mad science experient on the site.

enjoy; elan3c post a comment {0}
