riding the wake

i had a couple of firsts yesterday evening.

the first of my firsts, was that i tried jetskiing for the first time. how awesome! i got such a rush from flying along the willamette river at 60 mph with my tongue hanging out as a screamed like a girl at the top of my lungs.

my friends tom, justin and dave all went out to tom's parents' new house which is right on the river. i got bucked off once while i was riding on the back of one while tom was flying. he made it his goal to get me kicked, and as we were coming off of a sharp turn, i wound up losing my grip and falling off the backside gaining a noseful of fecal-infested willamette water.

the real highlight of the event was after i got comfortable with the handling on one of the skis. i started cornering sharper, and capitalizing on the wake of other boats.

as i was coming off of one heavy wake, i saw another boat coming the opposite direction as me on the other side of the river. i quickly cornered around, and flew over it's wake right after it was created. i then sped ahead to catch up with justin, who was on the other ski and subsequently stalled.

as i pulled alongside justin, my ski also stalled, and the boat i just rode the wake on stopped and pulled around.. and to my surprise, it was the boat police.

which leads me to my other first...

two tickets and an hour later, i left the river with a fun-filled, semi-expensive afternoon.

i've never even gotten a traffic ticket and now i've got a boating ticket! its funny too, because my brother dan calls me around midnight last night complaining about getting his first traffic ticket.
